Stretch Blow Molding

Q1 : What are the two steps in the PET/ PP pre-form process?

(1) A pre-form is injection molded.
(2) The pre-form is blow molded into the shape of a bottle.

Q2 : How does a stretch blow molding machine work?

The injection machine first produces the pre-form. The pre-form must then cool and solidify, at which point it is discharged from the mold. The cooled pre-form is then placed in the stretch blow mold machine to complete the bottle.

In this method the pre-form material is PET/ PP.

Injection Blow Molding

Q6 : How do injection blow molding machines work?

The process of injection blow molding is used for the production of hollow glass and plastic objects in large quantities. In the injection blow molding process, the polymer is injection molded onto a core pin; then the core pin is rotated to a blow molding station to be inflated and cooled.

This is the least-used of the three blow molding processes, and is typically used to make small medical and single serve bottles. The process is divided into three steps: injection, blowing and ejection.

Extrusion Blow Molding

Q7 : How do extrusion blow molding machines work?

In this method material is extruded from the extrusion machine into a tube shape. The material then goes into the mold and closing unit, and air is blown into the mold to force the material tube to expand into the mold wall. The material is cooled until it solidifies when it is discharged from the mold.

  • Lighter than water, soft.
  • Not heat resistance, adhesive printing.

  • Good water, chemical resistance and electrical insulation.
  • Easy to distort, deform and dent.
  • Adhesive, the lightest plastic.
